The DICHTERPFLÄNZCHEN

are a Registered Association (e.V., eingetragener Verein in Germany) of people sharing the love for poetry, no matter whether it originates from German poets or artists of other cultures. The association has been founded for the purpose of (re-)awakening public interest in poetry and to enjoy other people with poems. The DICHTERPFLÄNZCHEN have set themselves the task to keep alive the precious knowledge about the effect of poems, especially those created according to classical principles of composition, and they achieve that by giving new life to the idea-content of these poems.

Classical poets of all epochs based their efforts on the work of their great predecessors, who often lived in other cultures and regions, and they continued their predecessors’ work in a creative, revolutionary manner. Therefore, also today, all serious occupation with the art of poetry has to be measured by the standard of the great classical poets – their ideas, that is, not just the text material. In this sense, the DICHTERPFLÄNZCHEN cultivate the art of recitation and interpret a poem strictly in the spirit of its creator.

Since it is an established fact that in all cultures creative work brings forth the best in man’s nature, classical poetry offers a unique possibility to discover other human beings and other cultures and to develop respect and love for them. That’s why the German poet and philologist Friedrich Rückert said: „World poetry alone is world reconciliation!“ The DICHTERPFLÄNZCHEN see themselves in that tradition.

Classical poets are always dealing with the crucial and vital questions of mankind, and by rendering that discussion of such crucial ideas to their audience, the DICHTERPFLÄNZCHEN want to inspire their dear contemporaries, to help or maybe even to comfort them.
